By the time most women reach their mid 30’s, they have developed their own sense of personal style. This can take a little longer, but the beauty about getting that bit older is that you know who you are, what suits you, and what you like in terms of fashion. However, while it makes sense to stick to your beloved signature styles, it is also easy to get stuck in a rut with the same look. Everyone needs a bit of a change now and again, and the start of a new season is the perfect time to take steps to update your look and boost your confidence.
If you haven’t done so already, seek out the clothing styles and cuts that suit you best, and that make you feel your best. There will be certain clothing shapes that are best for your bodyshape to stick to. However, hair colour, make-up and clothing colour can be something that can easily update your whole image, as well as adding accessories that are new and on trend which can really give your whole look a boost.
Here are some ideas for updating your look, for the New Year New You;
– Change your hair colour. A good cut and colour can take years off you, and make you feel a million dollars at the same time. This needn’t be anything drastic, especially if your hair is something you have done regularly and already take care of. But, even just a home hair tint in a different shade, or some new highlights, can really lift your look. Talk to your hairdresser about updating your look.
– Update your make-up palette. Dated make-up trends can really make you look and feel stuck in a rut. Change your lipstick shade for an instant lift, or experiment with matt or gloss and see what you think. Make-up lends itself to experimentation, and your make-up can be transformed simply by trying out a new formula or product, such as a brow gel instead of a harsh pencil, or a smokey eye for the evening.
– While always sticking to outfit colours that suit your skin tone, change up the colour you wear with the seasons. A classic suit with a shot of on-trend colour in the form of a blouse, scarf or shoes, can update your image without falling victim to fashion. Similarly, pick one thing that is on-trend for the season, such as animal print or metallics, and invest in just one piece such as a handbag or top, so your image is refreshed and updated, without loosing your classic style. Accessories are a great way to update your image for a new season.
– When buying new pieces for a season, stick to just a few on-trend pieces, and keep the rest of your clothing classic styles that will serve you a longer time. While your wardrobe staples should be investment pieces, well cut and good quality, the pieces you buy to update your look every season can be cheaper as they are more disposable.
